Fall 2008
Fall 2008 Opening Day Highlights
The Violators and Doz Boyz kicked off the Fall 2008 season and the Violators opened up the season with Fall 2008's first win and shut out. It was brother against brother as The Violators starting quarterback, Rolando Arechiga, faced off against his brother and Doz Boyz QB, Alfredo Arechiga. Rolando fared better as he completed 75% of his passes for 252 yards and 4 touchdowns. Alfredo was only able to complete 4 passes for 58 yards and 4 picks. Both Violator cornerback's Marcos Martinez and Anthony Jones caught 2 interceptions each in the game. Violator defensive ends, Mike Horrigan and Ben Veader, lead the stat board after the day posting 4 sacks each in the game and each also grabbing 2 tackles. Violator Wide Receiver, Scott Witter, caught all 4 of Arechiga's touchdown passes and ended the day with 8 passes for 106 yards and the 4 scores. The Violators started the season out with a 30-0 shut out win over Doz Boyz.
The Spring 2008 Champion's, The Feds, opened up there Fall season against The Plague. The Plague made the champs look more like chumps with an opening day shut out. Although the Feds had several scoring opportunities in the game, they all ended in disaster as the team could not get into the endzone. Perhaps the Plague defense had something to do with that as they picked off Feds' Quarterback Shawn Hudson 6 times in the game, a non flattering personal record for the QB and more than he threw in his entire last season. Posting the picks were Plague defensive players, Alex Toler, Ray Brown, Robert Wilson, and Noah Regis who each had one and Darnell Charles who had 2 including 1 for a TD. Plague quarterback, Alex Toler completed 17 of 29 passes for 265 yards and 3 TDs, 2 to receiver Neil Stokely and 1 to Jermane Blackhat. The Plague opened up there season with a 26-0 victory over the Feds.
The Spartans and Bad Intentions ended opening day with a brawl (literally). Although the Spartans came away with an opening day win, the game ended with almost 3 minutes of play time to go. Spartans' Quarterback Gerald Fryman completed 2 touchdowns in the air in the game, one 58 yard touchdown bomb to receiver Max LaLoud, and a 51 yard TD to tight end Pat Nelson. Fryman also scored a rushing TD to give the Spartans 19 points. Bad Intentions had 6 points on the board from a 21 yard TD pass from QB, Mark Lobsinger, to receiver Justin Shine. The Spartans were leading 19-6 when pushing and shoving began and brawling ensued. Once things calmed down, Bad Intention Captain Austin Matthews called the game which led to a 19-6 victory for the Spartans. Following the altercation, the police were summoned and charges were pressed which should be a lesson to all that this is "flag football," we are all adults and the idea is to come out and have fun.
Please let this be a reminder that the league will not tolerate fighting on the field!!! In lieu of this game's events, we feel the need to remind everyone again that this is a recreational FLAG football league, if you have signed up with the intentions of reliving your tackle football days, you have come to the wrong place. Opening day was very physical throughout all 3 games, and a lot of trash talking was allowed. Please note that beginning in week 2, you will see a crack down on all trash talking and illegal play. Please refer to the league rulebook if your captain has not explained our policies to you as the ejection rule will be strictly enforced this season throughout for all offenses of fighting, tackling, pushing out of bounds, AND TRASH TALKING or threatening the referees. Please also note that ANYMORE FIGHTING THIS SEASON WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC 2 GAME SUSPENSION FOR ANYONE INVOLVED. IF YOU SEE A FIGHT BREAK OUT, WE RECOMMEND YOU LET THE REFEREES AND LEAGUE OFFICIALS BREAK IT UP. IF YOU GET INVOLVED IN ANY WAY YOU WILL BE EJECTED AND SUSPENDED AUTOMATICALLY.
Just remember when you get involved, you made the choice. It is not our fault when you get ejected. Just ask yourself when you join in if you are here to fight or here to play football!!!

Week 5 Highlights
BAMF's and Bad Intentions opened up week 5 and both teams came into the week with an 0 and 4 record. It was inevitable that one team would get there first win and it came down to the end to decide which it would be. Bad Intentions scored in the last second of the game to give them a 14-12 win. It was heartbreaking for BAMF's as they led 12-7 right until the end. On the final play of the game, as the time clock expired, Robbie Bozen rushed in the winning score to give Bad Intentions there first victory of the season.
The Feds and Doz Boyz took the field for game 2 of week 5. It was an unusual day for the Feds as the team's defense scored as many points as the offense and Feds QB Shawn Hudson only threw the ball 11 times in the game. Hudson put the first 6 points on the scoreboard when he completed a pass to receiver Emil Lovec. The next 6 came from Feds cornerback Eddie Wilson as Wilson picked off Doz Boyz QB, Jeff Day, and ran it back 85 yards for a TD. The Feds led 12-0 when Doz Boyz receiver, Jacob Nordman, caught a 31 yard TD pass from quarterback Jeff Day. But the Feds quickly made it a 2 touchdown lead again when Stephen Novello returned Doz Boyz kickoff for a score. With the Feds leading 18-6, Carlos Mendoza brought Doz Boyz closer on a 71 yard touchdown pass from Jeff Day. But the Feds answered Day's bomb and scored again, this time Hudson hit receiver Javier Vega for the TD. The Feds led 24-12 late in the second half when Doz Boyz defense came to life and stopped the Feds from scoring after driving down to within the 20 on 2 consecutive drives. Doz Boyz capitalized on the first stop and brought the score to 24-18 when Jeff Day rushed in a TD after a successful drive down field. Doz Boyz had the chance to tie the ball game after stopping the Feds a second time and getting the ball back with a minute to go. Jeff Day drove the ball down field and with 16 seconds left had the chance to go for a score, but Feds linebacker Nick Johnson made sure that didn't happen as he backed Day up with a sack to end the game. The Feds won the game 24-18.
The undefeated Spartans hoped to stay that way when they finished out week 5 against the Violators. Like the two games before, this one came down to the end as well, but in the end, the Spartans held on to there perfect record as they beat the Violators 24-20. Spartans quarterback Gerald Fryman completed 11 passes for 239 yards and 4 TDS. Spartan receiver, Mike Fuller, had another big game catching 4 of Fryman's passes for 85 yards and 3 touchdowns. The score went head to head as Fuller's 3 touchdowns were all answered by the Violators with scores from Violator QB, Rolando Arechiga to receivers Tilor Smith, Scott Witter and Trevor Freitas. Holding on to a 20-18 lead, the Violators had to give the ball back to the Spartans with less than a minute in the game to go. Time didn't matter, as Fryman threw a bomb up to Danny Ortiz. Ortiz went 88 yards for the winning score. Spartan Edell Glover had 4 sacks in the game, while Spartan Corey Pating caused the only turnover in the game when he intercepted the Violator's quarterback once and returned the ball 31 yards. Week 8 Highlights
The Violators and Doz Boyz kicked off week 8 of regular season and the Violators came out in full force. Doz Boyz was without starting quarterback, Jeff Day, and many other starters, but having the QB absent proved to be the most painful as the Violators defense held Doz Boyz back up quarterback, Tim Williams to only 3 completions for 33 yards, all to receiver Kyle Biglieri. The Violators' QB, Rolando Arechiga completed 10 passes for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns. The undefeated Plague met the Feds for game 2 of week 8, and like there previous meeting in week 1 the Plague came up with the victory. Plague receiver Jermane Blackhat put the first points on the board after a 34 yard pass from QB Alex Toler, the Plague took an 8-0 lead after a successful 2 point conversion. The first half went back and forth with both defenses stopping each other's drives and at half time the score remained 8-0 Plague. After the half, turnovers kept the Feds from producing any points as Feds' QB, Shawn Hudson was picked off 4 times, twice by Plague cornerback Neil Stokely, and once each by Alex Toler and Darnell Charles. The Plague capitalized on 2 turnovers and went up 20-0 after Toler completed a touchdown pass to Darnell Charles and rushed in a touchdown from 51 yards back. The Feds finally got on the scoreboard when Hudson hit receiver Eddie Wilson for a score, but Toler answered that with another touchdown to Blackhat and upped the Plague lead to 28-6. The Feds scored again at the end of the game to make it a more respectable loss, but the Plague stayed undefeated with the 28-12 win.
Week 8 ended just as it started with another shut out. This time Bad Intentions fell victim to the Spartans as the Spartans beat them 45-0. The Spartans defense caused 4 turnovers in the game as Skeet Cortinas had 2 interceptions on Bad Intentions Quarterback, Justin Shine, and both Kenny Butler and Jeremy Litka recovered fumbles. Litka's fumble recovery led to a touchdown as the defensive end recovered the ball and ran it in for a score. Spartan quarterback, Gerald Fryman was 12 of 16 passes for 229 yards and 5 touchdowns. Fryman hit receivers Bobby Dyke for 2 touchdowns, Taylor Chapman for a touchdown, and Max Lahoud for an 81 yard touchdown bomb. Fryman also threw a TD pass to tight end Pat Nelson. Danny Ortiz rushed in a 37 yard touchdown. It was all Spartans as Bad Intentions couldn't stop the Spartans offense from scoring on any of there drives. The Spartans upped there record to 6 and 1 after the victory while Bad Intentions fell to 1 and 6.
WEEK 9 NEWS
It wasn't a very eventful week as all teams had many players missing for the Nevada Day Weekend, Week 9 games. The Plague took on Doz Boyz for game 1 and remained undefeated after beating Doz Boyz 38-2. Doz Boyz playoff hopes disappeared after the loss and the Plague just about locked the first seed with there 8 and 0 record. The Feds met The Spartans for game 2 and walked away with a 46-12 win. Both the Spartans and the Feds have clinched playoff spots, but seeding still remains to be determined. The Violators locked in a playoff spot after beating BAMF'S in game 3, 20-0. And BAMF'S got there first win by default as Bad Intentions showed up for game 4 but only to inform the league that they are done for the season. So with the Bad Intentions forfeit, BAMF'S got the 7-0 Win.
For those of you whose playoffs hopes have gone, we encourage you to participate in the upcoming first annual Thanksgiving Weekend Turkey Bowl tournament. It's a great way to possibly walk away champs this season despite your season finish, and there is a cash prize!!! The 4 man tourney is unlike our season format and 4 strong players is all you need to walk away Champions. If you aren't familiar with 4 man play, it's really fun and quite competitive. The Turkey Bowl is a good introduction to this popular tournament style. For anybody interested in tournament play, this is the place to get your feet wet.
WEEK 10 NEWS
Only one week of regular season remains after week 10's games and the playoff teams are already locked in as The Plague, Feds, Spartans and Violators finish up the season in preparation for post-season games. The first seed, Plague, remains undefeated with only 1 week left to hold onto a perfect regular season status after beating the Spartans 42-0 in week 10. The Plague will end there regular season against BAMF'S in week 11 and a victory will make them only the 3rd team in CCFFL history to go undefeated in a regular season. The Plague will join The Panthers and The Blue Chips if they can beat BAMF's next week.
The Feds and The Violators played game 2 of week 10, and the Feds beat the Violators 54-8. With the Feds win and the earlier Spartan team loss, the Feds moved into the second seed position, while the loss for the Spartans bumped them and The Violators held on to the fourth position. Although the Plague has locked the first seed, next week's games could still shuffle the 2nd - 4th seeds around depending on the outcomes. But one thing is for certain for the top 4 seeds, they are all moving on to the playoffs. Doz Boyz and BAMF's finished off the day and although neither team had playoff hopes remaining, they both showed up to play and Doz Boyz walked away with a 42-0 shut out win against BAMF's. Despite his team's loss, Gary Sawyer from BAMF's set a new league record catching 5 interceptions in a game. Sawyer broke the existing record of 4 picks that was previously held by 4 players who were tied for the record.
