Fall 2000
Welcome Back
Fall 2000 - Week 1 - Game Summaries
Opening day kicked off with The Wranglers facing the CCFFL fall season's only new team, First and Goal. The new team that consists of many old faces from the spring season made their entrance into the league known as they took home a debut win. First and Goal receiver, and spring season all-star, Larry Harper, was 4 catches for 120 yards and 2 touchdowns. Harper won offensive player of the week for his performance. First and Goal newcomer, Craig Miller settled in comfortably at quarterback and completed 17 of 31 passes for 230 yards and 5 touchdowns. Miller spread the ball out widely to all of his receivers and hit Mark Polacek 3 times, all for scores. Defensively, First and Goal looked just as strong. Larry Harper accounted for 2 tackles, 1 sack and 2 INTS, while Harper's brother and team captain, Ladonte Harper pulled 3 flags for tackles and 1 for a sack. Another INT came from Michael Marin who also had 5 tackles and a deflection. The Wranglers looked stronger and revamped having added many new additions to their roster since last season. Wrangler quarterback, Jeff Day posted respectable numbers completing 9 of 16 passes for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Wranglers' defensive highlights included Rick Hays with 6 tackles and 1 deflection and T.J. McPherson pulling 4 tackles and 2 deflections. Despite an impressive opening day return, The Wranglers were sent home with a 34-12 defeat.
The Confederates and Rip-N-Tear met for game two of opening day. Despite both teams making many changes to their rosters, the rivalry was as strong as ever. The game went back and forth throughout with The Confederates putting the first six on the board when quarterback, Shawn Hudson completed a pass to tight end, Steve Donovan. Rip-N-Tear quarterback, Paul Harting answered the score along with his tight end Vince Lopez and made the score 6-6 early on. Hudson scored again on his second drive using Donovan again and bringing the Feds up by 6. Donovan was 4 of 74 for 2 TDS in the game. Down by a touchdown, shortly before the half, Rip-N-Tear scored again when Paul Harting found Lopez. Lopez was 3 for 91 yards and 2 TDS. Rip-N-Tear converted a one point conversion and entered half time with a 13-12 lead. Following half time, the teams continued the same momentum. The Feds pulled back into the lead following a 63 yard touchdown by receiver Emil Lovec. Will Franklin caught a 2 point conversion pass and brought the Feds up by 7. But Rip-N-Tear was not done yet. Paul Harting found receiver Jeff Cloutier in the endzone for 6 more. The Feds now held only a 1 point lead but not for long as Rip-N-Tear's running back, Jason Plaut caught a pass from Harting and ran 26 yards for the score. With Rip-N-Tear now holding a 5 point lead and time running out for The Confederates it was imperative that the Feds score. Robert Ryan stepped up to the challenge and caught a 60 yard touchdown reception giving the Feds back the lead. With the score 26-25, Rip-N-Tear got the ball back with a minute and 30 seconds left in the game. Confederate linebacker, John Ambrose ended Rip-N-Tears chances when he caught an interception and secured the Feds a 26-25 victory.
Defending champions' Mean Streak met The Panthers to end opening days action with a rematch of last seasons Championship game. Mean Streak running back, Archie Ervin scored the first touchdown in the game with a 64 yard run. A defensive battle began following Ervin's touchdown. Panther, Mac MacQuarrie picked off Mean Streak quarterback, Sage Tims and set up the Panthers' first scoring drive. Panther quarterback, Lee Robertson completed a pass to Jasen Hensley and converted the extra point putting the Panthers up 7 - 6. The Panthers defense, lead by Nate Nelson with 5 tackles and a deflection in the game, held Mean Streak to no more points. Lee Robertson scored another touchdown, this time rushing, and brought his team to half time with a 14 - 6 lead. With the score still close at the half way point, fireworks began to fly and controversy once again rocked The CCFFL. Mean Streak receiver/safety, Josh Jacobs was ejected from the game for unsportsmanlike conduct. Jacobs ejection was widely disagreed on by his team mates causing mounting tension which ultimately lead to the ejections of two other players. Despite Mean Streak's disagreement, The Panthers stayed strong and focused and put 3 more scores on the board. Quarterback, Robertson completed a touchdown pass for 32 yards to his brother, receiver, Andy Robertson as well as an 80 yard touchdown pass to Nate Nelson. Lee would account for another touchdown rushing as well. Mean Streak lost the game 33 - 6.
Game Summaries for Week 2
The Confederates faced last seasons' CCFFL championship team, Mean Streak, in game one of week 2. The game was a defensive struggle for both teams but the defending champions prevailed in the end with a 21-14 final score. Confederate safety, Will Franklin, picked off Mean Streak quarterback, Dan Martin twice in the game including one that Franklin ran back 105 yards for a Confederate touchdown. New addition to the Feds, cornerback, Jeremie Moore also had a big day, posting 5 tackles and 3 deflections. Linebacker Rob Horsman grabbed 7 tackles and a deflection as well. But big numbers from the Feds defense was not enough to stop Mean Streak from getting the job done. Dan Martin found receiver Josh Jacobs 3 times for 53 yards and a touchdown and tight end Jeff Remington made his way into the endzone for a 22 yard score. Martin rushed 7 times for 129 yards including one 58 yard touchdown run. Mean Streak's defense held The Feds' offense to only 159 total yards in the game. Nick McDaniel and Ryan Jackson both intercepted Feds' quarterback, Shawn Hudson one time. Jackson also stopped a Confederate drive when he recovered a fumble. Both teams will head into week three with a 1 and 1 record.
Game two was equally exciting with First and Goal facing The Panthers. Both teams jumped onto the scoreboard early and the lead went back and fourth through out. First and Goal scored the first 6 points in the game. Quarterback Craig Miller completed an 81 yard pass to Ladonte Harper for the score. Miller completed 6 passes for 193 yards and 2 touchdowns in the game. He also rushed 5 times for 79 yards and a touchdown. Despite Miller's statistics, Panther defensive end, Chris Kunin, kept the pressure on the QB all day posting 4 sacks and a tackle in the game. Nate Nelson lit up the Panthers' offense with two scores, starting with a 25 yard reverse that came early in the game and then the game winning 38 yard reception that he scored at the end. Nelson was aided by exceptional blocking from offensive player of the week, center, Neal Braunel. The Panthers took home the glory and went 2 -0 with a 25 - 20 win. First and Goal is now 1 and 1.
This season's first shut out came in game 3 of week 2 when The Wranglers met Rip-N-Tear. Rip-N-Tear though filled with many new faces showed the dominance they have always been known for in The CCFFL. The powerful defense shut down all of the Wranglers efforts to score. Defensive player of the week Jason Plaut was instrumental in ending many Wrangler drives. Plaut intercepted the ball and recovered a fumble both for touchdowns, he also grabbed 3 tackles. New addition to Rip-N-Tear, Chris Briley, had 3 tackles and 4 deflections. Another shining star for Rip-N-Tear was Jeff Cloutier who like Plaut scored a TD from an interception and grabbed 2 tackles he also deflected 2 passes. Wrangler receivers' Terry Metcalf and Tim Williams tried desperately to make something happen for The Wranglers. Metcalf received 2 passes for 43 yards and Williams received 4 for 57. But that was all The Wranglers' offense could muster up in the game. Defensively for The Wranglers, Robert Budd, added another sack to his resume and 5 tackles. But Rip quarterback, Paul Harting, completed 69% of his passes and 3 touchdowns. Gary Noah received two of Harting's three touchdown passes and the third went to Cloutier. Rip-N-Tear ended the game with a 39-0 win and brought there record to 1-1. The Wranglers will head into week 3 looking for there first win as they now sit 0 - 2.
SORRY, NO NEWS FOR THIS WEEK
WEEK 4, GAME SUMMARIES
Week 4 kicked off with Rip-N-Tear facing the Spring league champions, Mean Streak. The defending champs were without last season's MVP, Nick McDaniel, but despite his absence they played hard and came out strong from the opening kick off. Mean Streak's defensive ends, including last season's sack leader, Jose Iza and new addition to their roster, Jason Phillips, put the pressure on Rip-N-Tear's normally powerful running game early and kept it on the whole game. Phillips was credited with a tackle, 1 deflection and 3 sacks while Iza grabbed 3 tackles and 2 sacks. Mean Streak Linebacker, Corey-Jo Locicero, made The Rip-N-Tear passing game un-affective as he had 8 tackles and 1 deflection in the game. Cornerback, Rainbo Tims, threw the hardest punches, when he intercepted 2 balls and stopped important Rip-N-Tear drives. Mean Streak's offense put 26 points on the board with quarterback, Sage Tims, completing 15 of 19 passes for 174 yards. Tims found receiver, Josh Jacobs, 9 times for 99 yards and 1 touchdown. Jacobs also rushed for a 73 yard TD. Tight End, Jeff Remington, caught another Tims' 41-yard touchdown. Rip-N-Tear put two scores on the board in the game. Both scores came from quarterback, Paul Harting. Harting rushed in one and returned a kick for the other. Rip-N-Tear struggled throughout the game but as usual still had their share of highlights. Tight end, Vince Lopez, caught 4 balls for 62 yards and Gary Noah lead Rip's defense with 8 tackles and an interception. The final score was 26-12 Mean Streak.
The undefeated Panthers faced the winless Wranglers in game two of week four. While the Panthers tried to hold their undefeated status, the Wranglers desperatly hoped for a first win. But hope for The Wranglers seemed to diminish early as The Panthers defense destroyed all of The Wranglers' offensive drives. Wrangler quarterback, Jeff Day, was picked off 5 times. Andy Robertson, Nigel Cockayne and Nate Nelson each caught one interception and Claude Walker grabbed two. Nelson and Walker each scored a TD from interception returns. Nate Nelson also scored a touchdown from a kick return for The Panthers and 'Big Daddy', Joe Eckman, sacked Day two times, once for a safety. The Panthers' defense didn't leave much work for the offense. Quarterback, Lee Robertson, threw the ball only 13 times completing 4 passes for 113 yards. Tight end, Claude Walker, caught 2 passes for 61 yards, both for touchdowns. The offensive star of the game was without a doubt runningback, Mikel Williams. Williams captured the offensive player of the week award rushing 6 times for 152 yards. Four of Williams' runs resulted in touchdowns. The Panthers finished the game with a league scoring record of 73 points and sent The Wranglers back to the practice field to recover from another shut out.
The 1 and 2 Confederates faced off with the 1 and 2 First and Goal to wrap up week 4. The two teams were equally hungry to bring their record to .500. The battle between the two teams was perhaps the most exciting of the day as demonstrated by the overtime finish. The Confederates found their offensive success in the air with quarterback, Shawn Hudson, completing 10 of 22 passes for 239 yards. Hudson found receiver David Harris 4 times for 115 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hudson also found receiver, Emil Lovec, twice for 88 yards. First and Goal found their offensive success mostly on the ground. Running back ,Yonda Dowdell, rushed 10 times for 116 yards and a touchdown. First and Goal's defense made it difficult for Hudson. The team's defensive ends sacked the quarterback 10 times. Marques Fuller was credited with 6 sacks and Aaron McBride had 3. Ladonte Harper also sacked Hudson once and grabbed 4 tackles in the game. The Feds' defense played equally tough creating a defensive battle. Defensive player of the week was Feds' Cornerback, David Harris. Harris had 7 tackles and 2 deflections. Harris was not the only defensive star for the Feds. Cornerback, James Meyer, had 4 tackles, a deflection and an interception. Linebacker, Rob Horsman, had 5 tackles and a deflection and Hudson and cornerback, Robert Ryan, each caught an interception. Regulation time ended with the two teams tied at 13. The Confederates got the ball first and runningback, Adam Presley, caught a ball and was stopped at the one yard line. The next down Hudson ran the ball in for a score. First and Goal then had their chance to answer The Confederate score. The Feds' defense won the final battle, giving them a 19-13 overtime victory.
GIRL GAME # 1
The debut of the CCFFL girl's flag football game happened September 9th. The game was the first of a series of three games that the two CCFFL girl teams will be playing. The ladies took the field on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. and with the exception of fumbles being dead rather than live, played the game just as the CCFFL men do. The teams, otherwise known as The Rookies and The Buckle Bunnies, were formed in the off season and are headed up by captain's ,Dawn Aigner and Bryn Klitzke, for The Buckle Bunnies and Tracey Hudson and Jennifer Smith, for The Rookies. Coaches for The Rookies are head coach Jason Plaut and assistant coach Jason Maffei while The Buckle Bunnies are coached by head coach Greg Klitzke and assistant Chuck Tonzi. The winner of the series of three games will finish the season with an exhibition game against their husbands and boyfriends. The original concept was for the girls to play against The CCFFL men's last place team but the format has been changed due to complaints.
Game one kicked off with The Buckle Bunnies receiving the ball. The team that was plagued by last minute drops and no-shows, came out strong despite having never practiced. The Buckle Bunnies' opening drive ended unsuccessfully but the girls did move the ball down the field. Quarterback, Catherine Silverhart, completed a pass to Farrah Henderson and runningback Ashley McDaniel rushed for a positive gain. The Rookies' defense was headed by Mellisa Carbiener and Marlene Maffei. They kept the Bunnies out of the endzone on their opening attempt. Carbiener caused much grief throughout the game posting 6 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 deflection. Maffei grabbed 2 tackles and deflected 4 balls. The Rookies' opening drive was short and ended quickly in a score when running back, Shelly Plaut, rushed for an 80-yard touchdown. The Rookies held onto their lead and scored again shortly after with Brandy Harting receiving a 30-yard touchdown pass from Rookie quarterback, Tracey Hudson. Harting and Hudson also each caught an interception defensively. The Buckle Bunnies down by 12 put their own 6 points on the board when Silverhart began a kick return and midway down the field handed off to Ashley McDaniel who went in for the score. With the score 12-6, Rookie runningback, Plaut scored again on an almost identical run to her opener. New pick up for The Buckle Bunnies, Kristy Franco, almost brought the score up, when she ran 60 yards down field towards the endzone but was illegally pushed out of bounds by The Rookies' linebacker. Defensive highlights for The Buckle Bunnies came from Dawn Aigner and Farrah Henderson. Aigner posted 3 tackles and 1 sack and Henderson had 2 tackles, 2 deflections and an interception. All and all the debut game seemed to go well. The Rookies walked away with an 18 - 6 win. The girls are gearing up for their second meeting on October 2nd at 2:30 p.m.. WEEK 5 GAME SUMMARIES
The undefeated Panthers took on Rip-N-Tear to open up week 5. In the early stages of the game, both teams' defenses attacked the offenses with vengeance and it looked as if the game would be a close one. Rip-N-Tear opened the game offensively and successfully moved the ball down field. But Panther defensive end, Joe Eckman, stopped the drive short with a fumble recovery. The Panthers' ensuing drive was ended in similar disappointment when Rip-N-Tear safety, Paul Harting, caught an interception. After several drives by both teams ending in no score, in true form, runningback, Mikel Williams, plunged through Rip-N-Tear's defense and put the first 6 points on the board. Although Rip-N-Tear's defense was able to hold The Panthers to only 113 passing yards, they could not stop Williams on the ground as he carried the ball 8 times for 106 yards and 3 touchdowns in the game. Defensive player of the week, Rick MacQuarrie, along with team mate, Andy Robertson, were key to stopping Rip-N-Tear's offense. MacQuarrie earned 7 tackles in the game and 4 sacks while Robertson had 4 tackles, 4 deflections and an interception. The Panthers' defense held Rip-N-Tear to only one score when Rip's quarterback, Paul Harting, met Jason Plaut for a 14 yard touchdown reception. But The Panthers 33 points dominated the scoreboard and kept the team undefeated with a 33-6 final.
Game two matched up the winless Wranglers against The Confederates. Wrangler captain, Chuck Tonzi, had predicted all week that his team's first victory would come against The Feds. Early in the game, it looked as if Tonzi's words might have some truth as the Wranglers put the first six points on the board and then stopped The Feds' opening drive. The Wranglers, who had failed to put any points on the board in their three previous games, ended that streak when Jeff Day ran into the endzone for six. But despite The Wranglers opening success, The Confederates came back and dominated the rest of the game. The Feds were unstoppable in the air. Quarterback, Shawn Hudson, completed 73% of his passes going 22 of 30 for 302 yards and 6 touchdowns. Hudson found receiver, Robert Ryan, open 10 times for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns. Receiver, Emil Lovec, only had to hold on to the ball 6 times to score 3 touchdowns and rack up 149 yards. After the half-time break, Wrangler quarterback, Jeff Day, scored another 6 for his team rushing. Day was held to 56 yards passing in the game but rushed 7 times for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns. In the end, The Confederates crushed Tonzi's dream and sent The Wranglers home still looking for a first victory. The final score was 40-14.
The week ended with Mean Streak facing First and Goal. The defending champs, Mean Streak, came out with all guns firing. Quarterback, Sage Tims, was on target going 11 of 19 for 315 yards and 4 touchdowns. Tims found last years MVP, Nick McDaniel, open and ready 5 times for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns. Josh Jacobs and Jason Jones each scored touchdowns for Mean Streak as well. Jacobs was 2 for 95 yards and Jones was 1 for 35. First and Goal Quarterback, Craig Miller, rushed for 96 yards in the game and a touchdown and completed 9 passes for 124 yards and another score. Miller met receiver, Larry Harper, for a 40-yard TD reception. Mean Streak's defensive ends, Jose Iza and Jason Philips, brutalized Miller. Iza, in addition to grabbing six tackles, sacked goal's quarterback 5 times while Phillips put the pressure on with 3 more sacks. Phillips also had 3 tackles and a deflection. The strong Mean Streak defense held First and Goal's offense to only two scores. Yonda Dowdell and Craig Miller for First and Goal, were able to stop Mean Streak's offense twice, each of them catching one interception. But despite the turnovers, Mean Streak prevailed with McDaniel and Tims being too much to stop. Mean Streak went home victorious posting a 35-12 final score.
WEEK 6 GAME SUMMARIES
The second half of the season kicked off with The Wranglers facing First & Goal. The Wranglers were still looking for a first win, as they went into the game with an 0-5 record. Wrangler quarterback Jeff Day saw his best game of the season completing 62% of his passes for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown. Day, found receivers, Tim Williams 3 times for 71 yards and Robert Budd twice for 30 yards. Tight end Terry Metcalf also caught three passes for 61 yards. Defensively for the Wranglers, Day, earned player of the week with 5 tackles, a deflection and his fourth score of the day after he returned an interception 86 yards for a touchdown. First & Goal was plagued with turn overs in the game. The Wrangler defense was clearly hungry for a win. In addition to Day's INT, Tim Williams intercepted two balls and T.J. McPherson intercepted one and recovered a fumble. First and Goals offense was stopped in the air as they only completed 84 total yards in the game. Despite a rushing touchdown by quarterback, Ladonte Harper, the team was stopped on the ground as well, rushing for a total of only 60 yards. The Wrangler felt the thrill of victory as they defeated First & Goal 27-7. Both teams are now 1-5.
For a moment it looked as if Mean Streak would be the team that would take The Panthers' undefeated status away. In game two, the Spring season's championship teams, Mean Streak and The Panthers, met for the second time this season. Mean Streak put the first 6 points on the board after a 31 yard pass from quarterback, Sage Tims, to receiver, Josh Jacobs. Tims completed 14 of 27 passes for 182 yards and Jacobs was 6 receptions for 136 yards. Mean Streak converted the extra point attempt and had a 7 point lead. The lead was short lived as The Panthers answered the score with a 29 yard touchdown reception from quarterback, Lee Robertson, to tight end, Scott Valentine. The two teams entered half time with a 7-7 score. After the half time break the game continued its opening half pace. Mean Streak cornerback, Rainbo Tims and Safety, Josh Jacobs, made it hard for The Panthers' offense to move the ball with a passing game. Tims grabbed 5 tackles and 2 deflections and Jacobs grabbed 5 tackles a deflection and an interception. But even their efforts were not enough to stop The Panthers from finding success. Offensive lineman, Big Daddy Joe Eckman, Big Dawg Neal Braunel and Hoss Robert Myrick, stopped the leagues' two leading sack men Jose Iza and Jason Phillips from getting through the line. Panther Runningback, Mikel Williams carried the ball 13 times for 73 yards and tight end Claude Walker caught three passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Following Walker's touchdown the Panthers held a 14 - 7 lead. Nigel Cockayne, Rick MacQuarrie and Claude Walker each intercepted Mean Streak's quarterback once, making it equally as hard for Mean Streak to find success in the air. But Josh Jacobs snagged an interception of his own for Mean Streak and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown. With under one minute left in the game following Jacobs score, Mean Streak made the decision to go for the win with a 2 point conversion rather then the tie. Jacobs made the presumably game winning conversion catch making the score 15-14. The ensuing kick off with only seconds left to play ended Mean Streak's celebration as Offensive Player of the Week, Nate Nelson returned the kick all the way into the endzone for the win. The Panthers held on to their undefeated status with a 20-15 win. Mean Streak is now 4-2.
Rip-N-Tear faced off with old rivals, The Confederates, in the final game of week 6. Rip-N-Tear quarterback, Paul Harting ran in the games' first score. Harting rushed 3 times in the game for 46 yards and the opening touchdown but found more success in the air going 8 of 19 for 123 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Confederates were happy to welcome returning receiver Paul Heffern back to the game, Heffern caught 4 passes for 110 yards and a touchdown. But Rip-N-Tear cornerback, Harting , kept Fed's number one receiver, Emil Lovec contained all day. Lovec, who leads the league in receptions was 3 for 16 yards. Harting along with team mates Rob Simola and Gary Noah lead Rip-N-Tear's defense. Simola had 2 tackles and 5 sacks while Noah had 5 tackles. The powerful Rip-N-Tear defensive unit held the Confederates to no touchdowns for the majority of the game. Hefferns' touchdown was one of only two for The Confederates with the other finding David Harris. Rip-N-Tear scored three touchdowns in the game prior to The Confederates scoring any. Harting found runningback, Jason Plaut for Rip's second TD and receiver Jeff Cloutier for the third. Gary Noah caught a fourth Rip-N-Tear touchdown and gave Rip-N-Tear a 26-12 victory. Both teams are now tied with a 3 and 3 record.
Girl Game 2
Following week sixes' men's action, the girls took the field for game 2 of their three game series. With the winner of the series scheduled to play an exhibition game against the men, it was imperative for The Buckle Bunnies to win to keep their chances alive. In game one, The Rookies took the win with a 24 - 6 final. Game two secured The Rookies spot as The first CCFFL woman's champions as they beat The Buckle Bunnies 44-0. Offensive player of the game without a doubt went to Shelly Plaut who ran for a record number of yards and several of The Rookies 44 points. Defensive player of the game went to Rookies tight end, #25 Janice ?. Janice, intercepted almost every ball thrown near her and was unstoppable on the run back. Game three of the series is scheduled for October 28th. The Rookies will play the men's team at a date to be announced.

Referees
Yes, it is true. Everybody's favorite referee, Jonathan Villarreal has left The CCFFL. Villarreal retired his stripes in week 7 as he walked off the field towards the end of The Confederate Vs. Mean Streak game stating irreconsiable differences with the league. "Well that isn't quite what he stated, but I can't repeat his actual words over open airwaves." Dave Guiterez will be the remaining ref and will finish out the season along with player referees who have been selected based on their knowledge of the league's rules and willingness to enforce them fairly. WEEK 7 GAME SUMMARIES
Sorry this week's game summaries are condensed . Week 8's summaries should be posted on time and in regular format.
Week seven kicked off with The Wranglers and Rip-N-Tear. The Wranglers came out pumped after posting their first win in week 6 and at half time were only down 14-0 against a powerful Rip-N-Tear team. But Rip-N-Tear stopped all Wrangler drives and held the team scoreless. In addition to the first half 2 touchdown lead, Rip-N-Tear scored 3 post half-time scores and ended the game with a 33-0 shut out victory. Rip-N-Tear quarterback, Paul Harting was 7 of 17 for 192 yards and 1 touchdown. Harting rushed in 2 more touchdowns and Jason Plaut and Jason Maffei each ran in one. Defensive highlights were 5 tackles by league leading Rip-N-Tear cornerback Gary Noah and 4 tackles and 2 deflections by Rip, safety, Adam Hurley.
In game two First and Goal met The Panthers and the game ended in another shut out. This time, First and Goal was the team to go home with zero points. The Panthers, however, racked up 56 points and another win for their undefeated record. Panther quarterback, Lee Robertson, only had to throw the ball ten times, completing 6 of those passes for 139 yards and 4 touchdowns. Andy Robertson and Claude Walker each caught two touchdown passes. League leading runningback, Mikel Williams, rushed three times in the game and racked up 76 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers awesome defense was lit up by both defensive player of the week, Jasen Hensley and Nigel Cockayne. Hensley intercepted 3 passes, two of which he ran back for touchdowns including one for 101 yards. Cockayne had 5 tackles, 3 sacks and an interception. The 56 - 0 final was definitely another "Panther Party".
Game three had Mean Streak and The Confederates face off in what was a much closer game then it's two predecessors. The Confederates beat Mean Streak by only one touchdown ending the game with a 19 - 0 win. The two teams played tough against each other throughout the game, almost identical to their first meeting this season when Mean Streak beat The Feds 21-14. Feds' Quarterback, Shawn Hudson was 26 of 34 passes for 350 yards and 3 touchdowns. League leading Feds' receiver and offensive player of the week, Emil Lovec was 8 for 145 yards and 1 touchdown. Rookie Fed, Jeremy Moore had his best receiving game this season catching 4 passes for 79 yards. Defensively for The Confederates, Rob Horsman was the shining star posting 4 tackles, 1 sack, 2 deflections and 1 interception. Mean Streak's defense had several highlights as well despite the loss. Josh Jacobs grabbed 7 tackles and Jose Iza had a tackle and 3 sacks. The two teams along with Rip-N-Tear are now locked in a 3 team tie for second place.

NEWS
As always with the season winding down I have little time and a lot to do. So, once again I won't be able to post any news this week. However, one news item that I would have mentioned in this week's articles deserves to be mentioned. So here it is. A very big WOW must be given to The Panthers, they have posted 3 consecutive shut outs. The undefeated team over 9 games have held their opponents scoreless 4 times. Good Job to the Panthers and good luck to Rip-N-Tear who has the last chance to break The Panthers undefeated streak on Saturday. The Panthers however, have the chance to make CCFFL history if they can end this season undefeated. This match up should be the best game of this season. Good luck to both teams. The
PLAYOFF SUMMARY
It's going to be an all blue championship game next Saturday with The undefeated Panthers facing The Confederates. Kicking off the playoffs were the first seed Panthers facing the fourth seed, Mean Streak. The weather conditions were unlike any this league has ever had to endure. The field was nothing but a foot deep blanket of snow and snow showers fell off and on throughout the games with only moments of sunshine breaking through. Former champions, Mean Streak, put the first 6 points on the board. But the Panthers ended Streaks lead as they answered with a touchdown and converted the extra point making it 7-6. Mean Streak did score again and took a 12-7 lead but again The Panthers answered giving them a 13-12 lead. The Panthers put 6 more on the board upping there lead to 7 and Mean Streak had under 2 minutes to try and score again. But The Panthers defense was able to hold them and The Panthers secured there spot in The Championship game with a 19-12 final score.
In game two second seed, Rip-N-Tear faced third seed, The Confederates. This game was equally exciting with The Confederates coming out early and putting 13 points on the board. Rip-N-Tear scored one touchdown before the half making the halftime score 13-6 in favor of The Feds. But it was the successful Confederate conversion point that decided this game. In the second half, Rip-N-Tear scored first and brought the game to a 13-12 score. With one point separating the two teams, Rip-N-Tear needed to score again to take the lead, and so they did but again they did not convert and the score was brought to 13-18 Rip. The Confederates got the ball back again and had 56 seconds left to play. In an exciting drive they scored and converted giving them a 20-18 lead. Rip-N-Tear had 36 seconds left with the ball but were unsuccessful. The Confederates took the 20-18 victory and advance to the Championship game against the undefeated Panthers.

The Girl Games
In this season's experimental girl series of games. The Rookies faced The Buckle Bunnies in what was supposed to be a three game series with the best of the three games moving on to play a team of men. The Rookies, won the first two games therefore, securing the series. Unfortanatly the Buckle Bunnies were unable to play the third game so The Rookies took on the men this week. Despite the horrendous weather conditions the girls came out and played. Although the girls were just a little bit out matched, congratulations are definitely in order as they played the full game and didn't ever give up. We hope next season we are able to continue with the girl league as it appeared everyone involved had a lot of fun.
The Rookies would like to thank our coach, Jason Plaut for the time and dedication he gave to our team!!!!!a
Fall 2000 Championship Game Summary
CCFFL history was made following the Fall 2000 championship game. As no other team has done before The Panthers went completely undefeated in regular season and post season games. The Panthers met The Confederates in the seasons' finale and though The Confederates hoped to be the team that would break their streak, The Panthers prevailed once again. The Confederates who finished the season 6 and 4 and beat Rip-N-Tear in the playoffs stood strong against the powerful undefeated team but a loss was not part of The Panthers game plan. The Panthers awesome offensive line took home the championship game MVP title. Congratulations to guards Joe Eckman, Robert Myrick and center, Neal Braunel for their exceptional performance in this game and all season. The final score was 33-18. an
